…some cast, crew, and friends of Invasion went to a Hollywood restaurant to celebrate Kari Matchett’s birthday. The quote of the evening was from Alexis Dziena:
“I’m in love with a 26 year old amputee, but I used to be in love with my 17 year old step-brother. I’m a Freudian fantasy!”
Shooting for the second-to-last episode went amazingly well. We worked a lot slower than normal but given the scope of the story we did great. I got to work with Tyler for the first time really. I had a ball, and by the end of our four days of work we were buddies. Going out for drinks on Friday night I got to hear some of his experience this last season working on the show. He’s been working for a while acting, but I think this is the best reception he’s received as an actor for any project he’s ever worked on. Plus he has a film coming out soon that he’s really proud of and so he’s thrilled with how things are going. We both shook our heads in disbelief that we were participating in a show as cool as Invasion. And anticipating where the show is going? We can’t wait to see how it all turns out.
Speaking of which, I wish I could tell you what’s been going on in the story and what rumors have been floating around about the season finale! Its brutal, its exciting, its beautiful! It all starts up again April 19th…
For any East Coasters out there (Annie), you can catch a New York screening of Behind the Mask on April 8th! I’m flying out that weekend to attend the GenArt festival which is a celebration of new talents in the arts. The screening takes place at Clearview Chelsea theater on 23rd. Its a 5oo+ seat house. Very nice. And the afterparty should be a lot of fun. For anyone interested in going you can get passes to the screening and afterparty for $25 by going to the “genart.org” website. You can also find the site linked to the Behind the Mask website.
The film is hilarious, creepy, illuminating, and frightening. It takes place in a world where Myers, Freddy, Jason and the like are the serial killers of our age. Leslie Vernon is my character who is preparing to launch himself and his homegrown legend into the pantheon of the greats. A documentary crew follows Leslie around as he demonstrates and discusses all of the tricks of the slasher trade. And finally, as he is about to begin his killing spree, the documentary crew revolts and tries to stop Leslie before its too late. Bad idea.
There wont be an empty seat in that huge theater. This screening will be very exciting. Hope you can make it!
Nathan

Hi Nathan,
As Charlie Brown would say “arrrggghhh” *Annie bangs her head on the computer desk* Hubby and I have plans to go to another play that night in the city. Hmmmm…wonder if I ask really nicely…if he’ll let me change the tickets for another night…hmmmmmm.
I REALLY want to see BTM and for $25 in NYC, a movie and afterparty is an unbelievable price!!!!!
So any takers for my “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” tickets?…LOL
Onto other subjects. Nathan…you’re a big TEASE!!! The next 3 weeks are NOT going to go fast enough for me! I’ll tell you this though…the episode titles for the next 5 definitely have me intrigued!
I’m glad you and Tyler got to be buds from working together. He seems really nice and he’s a great actor. I think this show has introduced us to some GREAT talent. I look for movies, television guest spots, etc. with the cast. I haven’t yet seen Tyler in anything but Invasion, but I caught Kari on an ep of “Nero Wolfe” with Timothy Hutton playing someone so opposite of Mariel it was amazing. Of course, Fichtner is in so MANY things, I’m just trying to catch up! (But in everything I’ve seen him in so far he’s been great!)

Hey Nathan…I have to be in NYC that weekend anyway for R&D, so I ordered my tickets! Maybe I can arrange a delivery of the matching piece… just to get another beautiful note! Perhaps I will see you there….otherwise I’ll just drop it off at the NYC gallery. But that would be a real shame…..it needs a companion.
All the Best…
AJ

Hi Nathan,
Invasion withdrawal is NOT a pretty site! LOL! I can’t wait ’til the show comes back. Please wish Kari Matchett a very Happy Birthday. Here’s hoping for Emmy and People’s Choice nominations, (and victories!) and for Invasion to return to us for a second season.
Peace,
Sharry A.

Attended the NYC screening of Behind the Mask and wanted to pass along my review of the film. It was nice to see everyone in person — good luck with the movie, it’s great!

Hi Nathan!
I couldn’t wait to tell you what a delightful pleasure it was to meet you! I was amazed at the sprint you generated to catch up with me. And I was impressed by your humble introduction of yourself because I recognized you immediately of course. And thanks for accommodating my photo op necessity. I swore to myself that I would not miss another one due to great embarrassment as I did with William Fichtner. (They came out very nice btw) The film was awesome. You were the force that held it together. It illustrates just how accomplished an actor you truly are. I began all this as a Fichtner Fan, got addicted to Invasion, and ended up a Baesel Fan as well. You must tell us his reaction to the film sometime. I know he will be quite impressed with your performance, I sincerely hope BEHIND THE MASK takes off. It’s a clever and intelligent screenplay unlike those “other horror” films.
All of us on the Fichtner site have been religiously voting and voting again to save Invasion at the USA Today poll: http://tinyurl.com/pcavu
And lastly, please excuse my cheap-drunk-cannot-remember-what kind of babbling idiot I may have MISTAKENLY portrayed myself as.
HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY Nathan! You are a gracious and very charming guy.

Thanks AJ. It was a pleasure meeting you and your husband. Sorry the afterparty was so crazy but I guess when you get about seven hundred people together and plow them with free booze that’s what happens!
I’ll let you know what Bill thinks of the film. I’m curious myself.

You know you COULD always just… perhaps… accidently tell us something about the Invasion finale?
No? Well worth a try.
