A new opportunity for actors is taking place at The Maverick Theater in downtown Fullerton. I am excited to open the doors on a new, affordable, and local acting class called the Acting Forum. A free orientation for the forum will take place on Sunday, November 12th at 2PM at The Maverick. This orientation will give me a chance to meet you, discuss your specific acting goals, and determine how to best aid in helping you reach those goals. At that time I will also be able to outline in detail the structure of the class as well as my coaching philosophy and techniques I will use to further actors in their creative and professional endeavors.
My style of coaching supports actors to be their most courageous. My ability to encourage, however, will be dramatically affected by the tone of the group. Having spent much time in gruelling and judgemental classes of questionable value, I insist that the quality of the work is dependent upon the quality of the environment. Therefore I’m calling the class a forum because I will be striving to assemble a committed group of actors who will contribute to an open, positive exchange of ideas while taking on new and sometimes radical shifts in thinking. The result will be an environment which is at once challenging yet supportive.
I have been excited about this class from the moment of its inception. I know that it will be a valuable resource both for actors who are working on a career in the industry, and for those who are simply seeking a creative outlet. There is a wealth of talent in Fullerton and the surrounding cities that have gone for too long without access to serious acting training outside of the colleges. I look forward a great deal to providing a LOCAL SPACE for LOCAL ACTORS to work on their craft. I have made great efforts to keep The Acting Forum affordable while limiting the number of members to insure maximum focus. I guarantee this class will impact your art, your life, and in time the cultural vitality of this city.
I look forward to meeting you at the orientation. Bring your friends, bring your questions, and bring your aspirations.
-Nathan Baesel
Nathan Baesel began his acting education by attending Fullerton College where he graduated with an AA. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Theater at U.C.L.A. where he became a founding member of “theater mitu”, the L.A. born and New York based theater company created by Ruben Polendo. At The Juilliard School in New York he was awarded the Liz Smith prize for voice and speech and turned down the lead in a Broadway production to finish his final year of training. Believing that he could actively pursue film and t.v. work from Orange County, he moved back to his favorite city, Fullerton. Nathan quickly struck up a relationship with the Tony Award winning South Coast Repertory where he has starred in several productions. After various guest starring roles in t.v. dramas he landed his first starring role last season playing Lewis Sirk in ABC’s Invasion. He will be seen in the January release of Behind The Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon playing the title role.
