Nathan's blog has moved to MySpace

Fun time.

I’m getting a bunch of contacts from folks on my myspace page who’ve seen BTM. It’s neat to know that someone saw the movie and liked it enough to seek out people involved in the film. The dvd went on sale last Tuesday and since then I’ve recieved at least three (legit) friend requsts each day. No cult classic I know, but the response has been very enthusiastic and it’s real nice to see that the work has affected people in such a galvanizing way. I’ve even been written by people who declare it the best horror movie ever. It isn’t by far, but that title isn’t one that any horror fan bestows lightly. This is a fun time. I’m hoping, hoping, hoping that my 93 cent video store starts carrying the film. Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, Netflix and all those are nice but I’ll know we’ve tapped into the pulse of the populace when my local shop in East Fullerton is slinging copies.

  1. That’s awesome, Nathan. BTM popped up again on the IMDB mainpage, probably around the release date. So, I was like, “There you go!”

You do rock, I hope you know that! ;)

    Love -

  2. Hey there-

You know, as a Western-bred 30 yr old male currently living and working in India, I recently ordered Invasion on DVD and have spent the last week watching episodes of it every night with my partner.

I must say, your performance (alongwith the actress playing Mariel) is above and beyond anyone elses’. I for one, found everyone else fairly stiff, and its your excellent portrayal of the tortured soul that made those few episodes worthwhile.

Right now, Im through the episode where you had to prove your faith by cutting your arm off. Amazing!

Man, “Behind The Mask” is pure genius, it’s very awsome see a movie that combine fun and intelligence! I love the way that the movie gives homage for all the old horror movies. In the begin, when you cites Chuck it’s incredible, for me you are the soul of the movie, and I hope see another film whit you soon.

  4. Nate,

Matty gave me a copy of BTM you loaned him. I watched it last night and I absolutely LOVED it. You were brilliant. Hilarious. It was fun and smart and silly, a real love letter to the genre. You’re such a great listener. A generous, gifted performer. I always like that about watching you on stage and it really translates to film. I could go on and on!

(And you can pay me later. )

I stopped by Best Buy today and purchased my own BTM dvd. The first in what is sure to be my extensive Nathan Baesel collection.

I need to return the copy you loaned Matt, and I would love to see Kimmi and the kids. And you have to give me the scoop on UCLA, I was just accepted into their MFA film program for screenwriting!…lots to discuss.

I’m too old to understand myspace, so you’ll have to e-mail me the old fashioned way. LOL. kelly.fullerton@gmail.com

    Love you!
    K

  5. Nathan–

I’m not that big of a fan of horror movies, but BTM blew me away. I’m kicking myself now for not seeing it in the theater. Very rarely does a film as self-aware as BTM respect its source material or adequately deliver the thrills, and BTM delivering both hinged on your performance. The level of nuance you brought to the role was astonishing. I look forward to seeing more from you in the future. Best of luck to you.

  6. Nathan, Congrats on your roles in Invasion and Cold Case as well as your role in Behind the Mask. I was looking through the many titles at Blockbuster and saw that all the copies of Behind the mask were checked out. Thats good news. I’ll add it to my Queue on the on-line service. I haven’t seen it yet, but will get it as soon as possible. The still pictures of you look fantastic. I read a review about you in an older article where the author said you resembled Ethan Hawke. I can totally see the resemblence, but you look better than Ethan Hawke and I’m sure your smarter than he is. Anyhow, keep going with the punches! Your awesome!!

  7. I bought it the day after it came out at Target in F Town, Nathan. Your movie was advertised in Wizard Comic Book Magazine, the #1 comic book magazine in the US. I told Dawne, (Trin’s baby sis) and we watched it that night. Your acting in this movie was a force to be reckoned with - you did an amazing job and I look forward to a rematch at “Robot Boxing”, Bubba. Next Rutas XMAS party, I guess.

Also, Dawne was trying to organize a BTM viewing at our casa for the Rutas folk - I’ll waive the cover charge for you.

  8. I missed out seeing Behind The Mask when it was in theatres (It was only showing in one theatre near where I live and even that was an hour away; the fact that I don’t drive didn’t help), but I bought it the day it came out on dvd, and it was one of the greatest horror movies I’ve ever seen.

Last night being Friday the 13th, my friends (also horror fanatics, like myself) and I had a Friday the 13th party and watched all the Jason Voorhees movies, but the highlight of the night was watching BTM. My friends loved it! I’m sure BTM will be a cult classic someday and join the ranks of Friday the 13th and Halloween. Even if it doesn’t, it’s still my favorite!

    Keep up the great work!

  9. Just wanted to say that I had to google you up because my daughter and I just watched BTM. We thought you were amazing and couldn’t take our eyes off of you. You have that “one in a million on screen X factor” that most actors would kill for! We expect great things for you in the future and we will be watching for you. Thanks for the great performance. You were a pleasure to watch! Martha and Lane in Wisconsin

  10. Hi Nathan!
I am now the proud owner of 3 BTM copies. (don’t ask about my hopeless ebay addiction) They would look very nice with your autograph on them for an online auction on “the WF site” where you have MANY fans who would gladly bid on them for the Stem Cell Research Foundation charity. (especially after I reviewed the film and you so highly! You did an awesome job, which I may have mentioned before!)

I am hoping since you last posted on June 30, that you have many career opportunities lined up and that you are enjoying thespian surroundings you so very much deserve.

  13. Hey guys! We’re crazy Invasion fans from Italy: last year we got a great web site (invasionitalia.com) but we had several technical problems and now we have a new one with an english spoken page in our forum (take a look!). It is rising a new dawn here: this summer we had the pleasure of watching the complete serie for the second time and new fans joined us!
What about your country? Was Invasion a success?
hope hear from you again…We have seen the lights…it’s late to come back!
